The US House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, and his Israeli Occupation counterpart Knesset Speaker, Amir Ohana, meet at the Knesset in Jerusalem on Sunday, reported AFP.

McCarthy said: “This is my first trip as Speaker and I have only gone on this trip, because I want to recognize and congratulate and celebrate Israel's 75 years.”

“You know, when Israel decided to become a nation, within minutes America recognized them. For so many reasons, because just as America's more than a country, Israel is, too. It's an idea. An idea about democracy and freedom, fostered in the Middle East,” he added.

“There's a reason why you have challenges but you have shared values and we end up having shared challenges and enemies and we're better together. The world is safer that we are together,” he said.

Ohana said: “It is my honor and my privilege to accept you here on this visit. It is an historic visit. Tomorrow you will be only the second Speaker of Congress to address the Knesset. The first one in this millennium.”
