An Egyptian mother in her thirties killed her five-year-old son, cooked his corpse and ate parts of it.

The woman, who lives in the village of Abu Shalabi, suffers from “epilepsy and several other psychological disorders,” according to local media outlets.

Reports said that the mother confessed to committing the crime during a fit in which she was “worried about her child and wanted him back in her stomach again,” so she said that she decided to slaughter him, cut him up and eat him to put him back in her stomach.

The accused has been separated from her husband for about three years, and lives alone with her son in her own house in the village.

The mother was referred to the Public Prosecution, assigned a medical committee to examine her mental health and the remains of the child’s body were buried.
