Wednesday, the prices of some fruits and vegetables have increased, according to the Fruits and Vegetables Central Wholesale Market.

Citizens and residents have expressed their frustration with the rising prices and stores' lack of compliance with fixed prices.

This comes after the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply launched inspection campaigns and tightened control on fresh produce shops across the Kingdom to ensure compliance with the fixed pricing.

According to the Greater Amman Municipality, the market received a total of 2373.155 tons of fresh produce including 1877.898 tons of vegetables, 343.856 tons of fruits and 151.401 tons of leafy greens.

According to the market's latest price list (per kilogram):

• Eggplants: 40-80 piasters
• Onions: 25-45 piasters
• Potatoes: 25-40 piasters
• Tomatoes: 20-30 piasters
• Cucumbers: 20-35 piasters
• Lemons: 60-80 piasters
• Carrots: 35-50 piasters
• Bananas: 65-100
• Watermelons: 60-100
