Several dead, hundreds injured in Turkey-Syria border earthquake

Three people were reported dead and 213 were injured in Turkey due to the two earthquakes that occurred on Monday evening at the Turkish-Syrian border.

Syrian reports said that 470 people were injured in the country.

Four individuals were reported dead in Aleppo and Tartus due to panic and 55 were injured after jumping out of buildings in fear, according to Al-Arabiya.

Some remain trapped under the rubble in both countries.

The Interior Minister of Turkey announced 32 aftershocks were recorded in the country.

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake and a second measuring 5.8 hit the Turkish-Syrian border area on Monday evening.

It was also reported that the sound of buildings collapsing in Antakya, Turkey were heard and electricity was cut off as a result of the earthquake.

The earthquake was felt by residents in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan.

This comes after a devastating earthquake hit Turkey and Northern Syria on Feb. 6 and left over 44,000 people killed and thousands injured.
