A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized after being attacked by six stray dogs in Jawa, Amman.

The boy was transferred to Al-Bashir Hospital where his condition was described as critical.

The boy’s mother called on relevant authorities to provide her son with the necessary treatment.

The mother pointed out that she had repeatedly called on the concerned authorities to take action as there is a group of stray dogs threatening the lives of children daily.

Earlier, the Greater Amman Municipality said that Jordanian laws impose prison terms and fines on anyone hurting animals. Experts and activists, however, call for more actions to be taken toward ensuring animal welfare.

NOTE: This story is not placing the blame on anyone-anything. According to Jordanian law, authorities have a responsibility to provide shelter and safety to stray dogs.
