Petra is witnessing increased tourist activity, as the tourism sector continues to recover from the coronavirus crisis. The Rose City has reported that approximately 900,000 visitors visited the historic landmark in 2022.

Tourism sector employees in Petra continue to speak about overcoming the challenges they faced during the coronavirus pandemic and their efforts to restore the numbers they recorded in 2019.

"Thankfully, Petra remained a sought-after destination for tourists, despite the challenges caused by the pandemic and the economic crisis," they said.

The tourism sector has high expectations for 2023 and workers are optimistic about bringing back pre-pandemic figures.

The sector hopes that 2023 will be the year that they make up for the losses inflicted on the sector and its employees.
