The Sudanese authorities announced that at least five people were killed in armed clashes with security forces outside the Central Bank of South Sudan in the capital, Juba.

Police spokesperson Daniel Justin denied on Friday reports of an attempted robbery at the bank and explained the gunmen stole money from a car parked near the Petroleum Ministry.

He said that the Sudanese security services chased the perpetrators until they were arrested at the Central Bank, pointing out that they opened fire on security personnel, which ultimately led to the death of five people.
