The Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant of twenty-three thousand eight hundred and seventy US dollars (US$ 23,870) to the Jordanian Association for Family Planning and Protection (JAFPP) for provision of medical equipment under the scheme called Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP).

A Grant Contract was signed by Mr. NETSU Shuntaro, Chargés d'affaires at the Japanese Embassy in Amman and Dr. Abed Mansi, Chairman of Board of Directors of JAFPP, during the ceremony on 18th October 2022.

This grant assistance aims to enhance the reproductive health and family planning services of JAFPP by providing a new ultrasound machine and autoclave. Since 1989, JAFPP has been working on improvement of maternal and child health in Jordan by providing necessary services such as gynaecological examination, prenatal diagnosis, early detection of breast and cervical cancer and family planning counseling. According to what was stated by chargés d'affaires NETSU at the signing ceremony, this project is expected to enable JAFPP to provide more accurate and speedy ultrasound diagnosis, which contributes to improving maternal and child health.

Chairman of Board of Directors of JAFPP Dr. Abed Mansi said: “The Association has pledged to offer the best of services while keeping in line with the latest technology. However, we cannot realize our full potential without the assistance of local and international benefactors. I trust this generous support will allow JAFPP to continue providing the best of services in our local communities.”

Under Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, Japan has extended more than 10 million US Dollars for 153 projects to non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, and local governments in Jordan since 1993.
