A bear killed three people in 24 hours on July 15 in a village in the Indian state of Odisha.

According to local media, a person was attacked by a bear after going to the forest to fetch firewood and when his family went out to look for him, they were attacked as well.

Two of them managed to climb a tree and escape death, and the bear tore the other two to shreds.

The Indian authorities pledged to pay 400,000 rupees to the families of the victims which is a little over 5,000 US dollars.

The bear was killed by angry local villagers who hunted down and beat the animal to death, according to local media.
