Professor Ahmed Al-Saad, who was accused of sexual harassment at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), spoke Sunday to Roya’s Nabd Al Balad.

Saad said, "I am subjected to a fierce campaign by the students of the University of Science and Technology."

“The videos that were published are fabricated,” he added.

He continued, “I submitted a list of allegations for personal and legal right to the Cybercrime Unit and the court of Bani Obeid.”

He also mentioned the ‘trouser hanging on his office door,’ saying “these claims are shameful and ridiculous.”

Saad said, "I have never touched anyone."

In turn, a number of JUST students told Roya their stories and other students' stories of alleged verbal and sexual harassments.

A student said, "The professor insisted that I come to his office to see my mark.” She continued, “I was verbally harassed and I have text messages (proof)."

Another student, who spoke on behalf of a number of other students, said, “The professor touched two girls’ private parts.” However, Saad responded by saying, “Touching female students’ private areas is not true, and these are false allegations.”

The student mentioned a story that had occurred with another student, she said, “The professor made an account only for girls, and he used to say that if she [the student mentioned in this story] did not answer him, he would not give her a good mark. When she asked him to show her the mark, he told her to come by to the office so that she could get the mark she wanted.”

In another story told by the student about another student, she said, "A student’s name was entered incorrectly, and the doctor asked her to give him her number, and asked her to pass by his office, and he did not leave her alone and asked her to go out with him to Jerash."

When one of the student was asked why she did not submit a complaint to the university, she said, “I submitted a complaint to the university, but it was rejected on the pretext that there were many complaints against the professor.”
