Monday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the killings in the Ukrainian town of Bucha were "staged for anti-Russian purposes," according to AFP.

"The other day, another information attack was launched in the city of Bucha, in the Kyiv region, after Russian military personnel left from there in accordance with the plans and agreements reached. A few days later, a staging was fabricated there, which Ukrainian representatives and their Western patrons dispersed through all channels and social networks," said Lavrov during his meeting with the United Nations top humanitarian envoy, Martin Griffiths, in Moscow.

He added, "The Russian military completely withdrew from this city on March 30. On March 31, the mayor of the city of Bucha solemnly said that everything was in order for him. Two more days later, we saw how the same staging was organized on the streets, which they are now trying to use for anti-Russian purposes."

"We demanded an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on this issue. We see such provocations as a direct threat to international peace and security," Lavrov stressed.

For his part, the UN's top humanitarian envoy, Martin Griffiths, said, "The first general request I have on behalf of Mr. Guterres (UN's Secretary-General) is for you to consider, and I have some ideas of course, the possibility of what he would like to see which is an overall humanitarian pause across Ukraine, which may not be possible today, but a process that would lead us towards it."

"Number two, I believe there is a possibility for humanitarian pauses in certain parts of the country, geographically delimited. For example, up in the north, around the capital, in Chernigiv, in Kherson," Griffiths said.
