The authorities in Aqaba arrested a young woman in her twenties, born in 1996, for begging on the streets while pretending to be a woman in her 70s, according to the Ministry of Social Development.

The beggar tried to mislead the authorities when they followed her, so she entered one of the stores in the guise of an elderly woman in her 70s, then came out of the shop dressed as a young woman in her 20s after realizing that the authorities were following her.

A total of JD 180 was seized from her possession, which she claimed was the sum of two working days and that she begs in Aqaba Governorate at the end of the week and the rest of the week she begs in Amman.

She was arrested and transferred to the competent authorities.
