The Russian Border Guard Directorate revealed in a statement on Sunday that more than 12,500 refugees from Donbass crossed the border with Russia during the past 24 hours, Russia Tody (RT) reported.

"In the past 24 hours, more than 12,500 citizens crossed the border into Russia through checkpoints located in the Rostov region," the statement said.

Earlier Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian military had evacuated 90 citizens from Russia, Moldova and Ukraine from the Ukrainian province of Kherson.

"Yesterday, the Russian army organized a safe transfer of 90 citizens from Russia, Moldova and Ukraine, from the Kherson province of Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation," a statement from the ministry read.
