The Ministry of Interior decided Friday to impose new precautionary measures on those coming from South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini and Botswana, as of Sunday, Nov. 28.

The decision came due to the emergence of a new COVID variant in South Africa and in some of its neighboring countries.

The ministry’s decision stipulates that non-Jordanians coming from these countries will not be able to enter the Kingdom unless they prove that 14 days have passed since they departed from these countries to other countries where the new variant is not present.

As for Jordanians coming from these countries, they will be subjected to institutional-quarantine for a period of 14 days at their own expense and regardless of their PCR test results in Jordanian airports or in the countries they are coming from.
