Crime scene experts in the UAE, were able to solve the mystery of a "complex" crime after following the traces of a thin trail of blood for a distance around three kilometers.

The director of the Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, Makki Salman, said that experts solved a complex case of a murdered businessman and his wife inside their house, according to Emirates Today.

Salman said that the team found a weapon and traces of blood belonging to the criminal and followed it until it reached a residential complex and suddenly ended.

He added that "the team continued the search until traces of blood were found, they followed it for a great distance, despite its weakness, until it reached an iron barrier on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road," he continued. "Blood spots were found on the barrier and then a knife was found on the road."

Salman also revealed that after the police determined from where the knife was bought, they identified the identity of the killer and arrested him.

The suspect finally admitted to killing the owner and his wife as well as stabbing their daughter after he went into the house, in the middle of the night, to rob it but was caught.
