Wednesday, Saudi Arabia lifted COVID-19 restrictions and allowed travel from the United Arab Emirates and two other countries, announced the Ministry of Interior.

According to Bloomberg, a day after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke to de facto UAE leader, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed, the restrictions were lifted.

“The prospects of further consolidating the strategic cooperation,” were discussed, added Bloomberg.

This comes only a month prior to the opening of the famous Emirati trade fair, the Dubai Expo 2020, which injects billions into the UAE economy.

According to Dubai Tourism, Saudi Arabia generates the second largest number of visitors each Expo, preceded by India.

Entry through land, sea and air ports was finally allowed after continuous monitoring of the local and global epidemiological situation, added the Ministry.

“The Ministry of Interior calls upon citizens wishing to travel to the countries to which travel is permitted to be careful, stay away from areas where the virus is spreading, and follow all precautionary measures, regardless of their destination,” reported the Saudi Press Agency citing the Kingdom’s Ministry of Interior.

July 3, entry of citizens of the UAE into Saudi Arabia was suspended because of COVID-19 concerns and the fear of its new strain.

The countries that remain facing a Saudi Arabia travel ban are India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Egypt, Turkey, Brazil, Ethiopia and Lebanon.

Travel restrictions were also lifted from Argentina and South Africa.
