Member of the National Committee for Epidemiology, Dr. Bassam Hijjawi, Saturday spoke about the developments in the epidemiological situation in Jordan and the possibility of offering a third vaccine dose.

He said that the booster dose will be of the same type as the two doses that were given an individual previously, stressing that there is no mixing of vaccines in the third booster dose.

He pointed out that the dose will be for people who have taken the vaccine more than eight months ago, and the aim is to raise their immunity.

"The world is studying the vaccination of all age groups, and in Jordan we allowed the vaccination of 12-17 years old with the Pfizer vaccine with the consent of the parents, due to the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine for this age group," he said.

He concluded that no Mu mutant infections have been recorded in Jordan.
