A fire occurred at a hospital nursery in Egypt’s Qena governorate Tuesday, killing a 20-day-old baby girl and injuring eight other infants, according the director of security in the governorate, Musaad Abu Sakeen.

The other infants were rescued and transferred to other facilities.

The fire happened after the nursery’s oxygen pump regulator caught fire, causing the oxygen flow to the children in the hospital to shut off.

Abu Sakeen said an investigation into the incident has been launched.
