Canadians protest against vaccine passport
Sunday, hundreds of residents rallied in downtown Montreal, Canada, to protest against the 'vaccine passport,' which Quebec authorities decided to implement on Sept. 1, through which only those who have been fully vaccinated are allowed access to festivals, restaurants and physical training facilities.
The protesters said the vaccination passport system is an "unprecedented population bias" and a "discriminatory system," and called on opposition parties for a public debate on the introduction of vaccination passports.
The Minister of Health in the province of Quebec, Christian Dube, confirmed earlier this week that the "passport vaccination" system will be implemented from the first of next September, in an attempt to combat the increase in cases and what he described as the inevitable fourth wave of the virus.
Dube said the restrictions on venues and other activities will hinge on the further spread of the province's most dangerous delta strain.
