Former Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri said that the Jordanians were able to persuade the Americans to import Egyptian gas through Syria.

He added in an interview with the Lebanese Al-Jadeed TV earlier this week, he said: "I went to Egypt to extract Egyptian gas through Syria, and the Jordanians were able to convince the Americans about this."

He added, "I discussed with President Sisi the gas file to reduce the electricity bill through the new government, although I am not its president."

Hariri stepped down as PM-designate Thursday evening.
