Assad raises salaries by 50 percent

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree to increase the wages of civil, military and retired workers by 50 percent, in addition to raising the general minimum wage.

The presidency published through the Syrian news agency "SANA", the text of the decree, which included "a 50 percent increase in salaries and cut wages for all civil and military workers in the state."

The decree also stipulated "raising the general minimum wage and the minimum wage for professions for workers in the private, cooperative and joint sectors that are not covered by the provisions of the Basic Law for state workers to 71,515 Syrian pounds per month."

Decree No. 19 of 2021 also included “granting pensioners, both military and civilians, an increase of 40 percent of the pension, and the aforementioned increase benefits the families of the pensioners and is distributed to the beneficiaries according to the shares specified in the laws and regulations they are subject to.”
