Friday, the Council of the European Union advised its member states to lift travel restrictions on a list of countries including Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The new update allows the citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Qatar, Canada, Jordan, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia and Kosovo to enter the European Union safely after the COVID-19 situation improved in these countries.
The decision was made based on several criteria including the general COVID-19 situation, the ability to provide people with medical treatment and transport them to their own countries if infected or in case of another outbreak.
The relevant EU authorities are free to impose additional measures and travel restrictions according to the changing COVID-19 situation.
