The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef al-Fayez said Thursday that the city of Aqaba is preparing to be a green area at the beginning of July, indicating that the governorate will be free of the coronavirus.

Fayez tweeted, “Aqaba, the smile of Jordan, is preparing to be a green area at the beginning of next month.”

Sunday, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) called on Jordanians to get vaccinated against coronavirus in order to prevent further spreading of the virus.

ASEZA said that as of July 1, and based on government decisions, visitors will not be allowed into Aqaba through customs centers, Wadi Al-Yatam and Wadi Araba, border crossings or the airport, unless:

- They are fully vaccinated.

- At least 21 days have passed since receiving the first dose of the vaccine.

- They have a negative PCR test 72 hours before arrival for those over six years of age.
