Data issued by the Department of Statistics (DoS) Thursday showed that the name Mohammed for males and Jouri for females were the most common names for children during the year 2020.
According to statistics, the name Mohammed was used 7,204 times, while the name Jouri was used 1,811 times.
The data showed that following Mohammed, the most common names in descending order were Adam, Ahmed, Youssef, Omar, Karam, Shahem, Jad, Ali, Hashem, Abdullah, Sanad, Rayan, Zaid, Tayyem, Abdulrahman, Kinan, Amir, Ibrahim, and Khaled.
After Jouri, the most common names for females in descending order in 2020 were Salma, Naya, Mira, Lianne, Leen, Zina, Mariam, Wateen, Tuleen, Massa, Sarah, Tala, Maria, Farah, Hala, Nour, Rafif, Ghazal, and Ghina.
According to figures issued by the DoS, the population of Jordan as of June 6, 2021, is about 10,919,155 people.
