Sunday, the Health Communication and Awareness Directorate (HCAD) at the Ministry of Health (MoH) distributed awareness leaflets about quitting smoking, which can be found in health centers and clinics across the Kingdom.

Through a campaign called 'Maintain your health and quit smoking now,' the ministry called on citizens to head to any health center for free counseling sessions and treatment for help to quit smoking.

According to the World Population Review, Jordan ranked first among Arab countries and sixth worldwide in terms of the percentage of smokers.

The ministry said in previous statements that 42 percent, or 1.7 million Jordanian adults, smoke tobacco in different forms, according to a 2019 study conducted by the ministry and the World Health Organization (WHO).
