Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs in the State of Palestine, Riyad Al-Maliki, warned Sunday of the consequences of the dangerous developments in Occupied Jerusalem, stressing the need to stop the Israeli Occupation of all provocative measures and attacks by extremist groups that are pushing towards a new wave of tension and violence.

In talks they held by phone, they stressed the necessity of launching an immediate international move to oblige the Israeli Occupation, the occupying power, to stop extremist organizations and their racist movements in the Old City in order to stop violence and restore calm.

Al-Safadi and Al-Maliki stressed the necessity of the Israeli Occupation respecting the sanctity of the blessed month of Ramadan, stopping all provocative steps in the holy sites and lifting all restrictions and measures that violate the right of Palestinians to practice religious rites in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, especially in this holy month.

Al-Safadi and Al-Maliki stressed the need for concerted efforts to create a real political horizon by returning to serious and effective negotiations to resolve the conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, which embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the approved references, as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

They stressed that the continued absence of the horizon of peace and the unilateral Israeli Occupation steps that undermine its opportunities and provocative measures such as those taking place in the occupied city of Jerusalem threatens to explode the conflict, which the entire region will pay the consequences of.

The two ministers affirmed the continuation of working together and in coordination with the brothers and the international community in order to protect the Palestinian people and their rights and achieve a just and comprehensive peace that meets all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
