Saturday, the head of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee Khaled Abu Hassan called for the reopening of the closed sectors and reducing overnight curfew hours. He said this is necessary to help these sectors begin to recover from the repercussions of the coronavirus crisis.

In a press statement, Abu Hassan stressed that postponing the reopening of sectors would deepen the negative impact that most sectors are suffering from.

He said the government has the tools to activate defense laws and orders to reopen sectors and reduce curfew hours, while imposing strict procedures to prevent further spreading of the virus.

Abu Hassan pointed out that the government could make use of the Eid season and the remaining days of the holy month of Ramadan to recover from the repercussions of the pandemic, which have affected many sectors.

He noted that while reopening sectors and reducing curfew hours is important, it is not sufficient to save the sectors that were most affected by the coronavirus crisis. There needs to be a comprehensive recovery program that takes all dimensions into account, he added.
