Saturday, Prime Minister Bisher al-Khasawneh went on a field visit to the Vegetables and Fruits Central Wholesale Market in Amman and the Amman Customs Office.

During his visit, Khasawneh stressed the need to continue providing high quality fresh produce at reasonable prices.

Khasawneh was accompanied by the Chairman of Amman Municipal Committee Yousef al-Shawarbeh. The were briefed by the Market Director Anas Mahadin market operations.

Khasawneh stressed the need to automate operations within the central market in a way that serves the interest of farmers and customers as well as increase the areas allocated for handling fresh produce within the market in order to improve the quality of services provided.

Shawarbeh pointed out that the central market is the largest in the Kingdom and receives approximately 3,500 tons of fresh produce on a daily basis. He added that farmers supply fruits and vegetables in sufficient quantities based on local needs. He noted that prices are stable and within their normal range.

Khasawneh also inspected the progress of work at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in the central market, which conducts laboratory tests on agricultural products in the local market.

As for the visit to the Amman Customs Center, Khasawneh was briefed on the workflow and operations carried out by the center. During the tour, on which he was accompanied by the Minister of Finance Muhammad al-Ississ, he referred to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to facilitate procedures for citizens, investors and the commercial sector related to customs transactions.

The Acting Director of the Customs Department Jalal al-Qudah spok about about the achievements of the Amman Customs Office, pointing to the measures taken to help citizens and clients.
