Wednesday, approximately 66,000 head of livestock, including 50,000 sheep, arrived at the Port of Aqaba on board of three ships after the reopening of the Suez Canal.

The Director General of the Aqaba Company for Ports Operation and Management Khaled al-Ma'aitah said two more ships will arrive Wednesday carrying various types of materials and commodities.

In a press statement, he pointed out that a complete inspection of livestock has been conducted by the concerned authorities and that clearance companies did not have to pay any additional fees.

He stressed that the port is ready to receive ships as part of a strategic plan drawn up by the company to deal with any emergency conditions in light of the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom and the rest of the world.
