COVID-19 vaccine does not break Ramadan fast: Iftaa’ Department

The Jordanian Iftaa’ Department confirmed Wednesday that receiving a coronavirus vaccine will not break the individual’s fast during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The vaccine is administered intramuscularly, therefore it does not invalidate the fast, according to the department.

The department added that if someone experiences side effects after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, then it is allowed to break the fast in order to take the required medicine.

Jan. 13, Jordan began its national COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
