Monday, the Minister of Transport Wajih Al-Azayzeh said that the transport sector in the Kingdom was affected, like many other sectors, by the coronavirus pandemic, especially after the decision to reduce the seat capacity in public transportation to 50 percent.

In a press statement, Azayzeh indicated that the ministry is assessing the financial impact of this decision, which was recently re-enforced to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Results of this assessment will be announced within the next two days.

Azayzeh stated that public transport will be supported with exemptions that will include licensing fees and any other fees associated with them.

He indicated that the seat capacity will return at the end of March to what it previously was in the event of a decrease in COVID-19 cases.

Azayzeh noted that he met Sunday with the Yellow Taxi Committees and all that the demands they made will be studied so that they can be resolved as soon as possible.
