Monday, the Assistant Secretary-General for Primary Health Care at the Ministry of Health Ghazi Sharkas, confirmed that the Kingdom has witnessed an increase in positive PCR tests in contrast to prior weeks, noting that this is a reason to tighten preventive health measures.

He added that the Ministry of Health will continue monitoring the pattern of positive PCR test rates during the coming weeks, while recommending the continuation of adherence to set health protocols.

He said, "According to patterns of the virus in Jordan, [the increase in infections] should have come earlier, and we would have been affected by a second wave, which would have come early."

Sharkas indicated that there is a need for further evaluation regarding whether Jordan will be affected by a second coronavirus wave or not.
