Palestine records 11 new cases of coronavirus mutation

Friday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health recorded 11 new cases of the COVID-19 mutation which first emerged in Britain, from 28 tests conducted.

On Jan. 21, the Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila confirmed that 17 new cases was recorded of the mutated COVID-19 infection from Britain, which brings the total number of mutated COVID-19 infections to 28 in Palestine.

In radio statements, a Ministry of Health official explained that the cases were all recorded in the West Bank, including five in the village of Deir Jarir, two in Al-Taybeh, two in Al-Ram, and two in Bethlehem. He indicated that the infected were in contact with individuals who worked inside the Green Line.

The Green Line refers to the border separating pre-1967 Israel Occupation from Occupied Palestinian Territories, and constitutes an internationally recognised border.

The official indicated that the results of the rest of the test samples taken will soon be released, and all of them are expected to be infected with the mutation.
