The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) issued a statement Thursday, confirming that it had received many complaints about telecommunication companies raising the prices of recharge cards.

The TRC confirmed that they have communicated with the companies about the issue. Companies have denied raising prices.

The commission noted that the prices of selling phone credit top-up cards are outside their authority and are not subject to regulation. Their prices are determined according to market factors.

TRC also confirmed that the options for purchasing phone credit top-up cards are varied and have different price points depending on the value of top-up.
