One person dies of coronavirus in the US every 33 seconds, according to a new study.

The virus killed more than 18,000 people in the US in the past seven days until Dec. 20, which is an increase of 6.7 percent from the previous week.

The US has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for use, however, months may pass before the vaccination process leads to a decline in the spread of the virus.

A total of 18,473,716 COVID-19 cases, and 326,772 deaths have been confirmed in the US since the start of the pandemic.
