Palestine receives 500,000 doses of Modera COVID-19 vaccine

Tuesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health received 500,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

The doses were received it as a donation from the US, through COVAX.

The Minister of Health, Mai al-Kaila said during a press conference, which was held in Ramallah, “Today we announce that we received half a million doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine, provided by the US government through the COVAX mechanism.”

She added that 300,000 doses will be sent to the West Bank and 200,000 doses to the Gaza Strip.

The Minister of Health thanked the US government for the donation, and also thanked the partners in the World Health Organization and UNICEF for their exceptional efforts in facilitating the entry of this shipment into Palestine and its transportation to warehouses in Nablus and the Gaza Strip.

Kaila added “We thank those in charge of the COVAX Foundation for their continued cooperation in providing vaccines against the coronavirus.”

Tuesday, Palestine announced the registration of four deaths, and 1,570 new infections with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, constituting the highest amount of daily cases since April.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, a total of 441,443 Palestinians have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
