The Head of the Coronavirus Portfolio Wael Al-Hayajneh Monday announced the government is negotiating with American company Moderna, among other companies, to buy the coronavirus vaccine.

In statements to Roya, Hayajneh explained that no agreement has been made with Moderna regarding the vaccine quantities that the Kingdom will receive.

Jordan's negotiation with vaccine companies is based on the need to secure the vaccine as soon as it is approved.

We in Jordan are 100 percent ready for the vaccines to reach us, said Hayajneh.

Hayajneh indicated that Moderna had manufactured a vaccine based on genetic code and the production of antibodies which create immunity against the virus.

Monday, American company Moderna announced that it will submit emergency licensing applications for its COVID-19 vaccine in the United States and Europe Monday, after the full results of clinical trials confirmed a 94.1 effectiveness rate.

The new results, which included more than 30,000 participants, demonstrated a 94.1 percent effectiveness rate in preventing the disease.

The company says the results are consistent across various demographics, including age, gender and ethnicity.
