During the two-day virtual G20 Summit, leaders of the G20 countries Sunday pledged to ensure the fair distribution of coronavirus vaccines.
Hosted by Saudi Arabia, the Summit took place as international efforts intensified in preparation for a large-scale rollout of COVID-19 vaccines after several breakthroughs in trials.
"We will not back down from making every effort to ensure equitable access to vaccines, tests and treatments at an affordable cost," the G20 leaders said in the draft document seen by the AFP.
In the final draft, participants said they "fully support" the mechanisms that the World Health Organization (WHO) announced which ensures that vaccines will be available to all countries around the world.
