Having no new COVID-19 cases is an “unworkable goal”: Obeidat

The Minister of Health, Nathir Obeidat, Tuesday participated in the Media Forum to discuss the latest COVID-19 developments in Jordan.

During the forum, Obeidat said that the Jaber border crossing is the weak point which led to the spread of coronavirus in Jordan.

He added that the return of cases to the zero is an “unworkable goal."

No decisions have been made by the government to impose a total lockdown, said Obeidat.

Regarding the number of COVID-19 deaths, Obeidat said that the government compared the death toll between 2020, 2019 and 2018 and, until September, the number of deaths was within the usual range. In September and October, the death toll exceeded the usual average, with 27 more deaths per day in October, in comparison to last year.
