A source in the Ministry of Health stated that the low number of new COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom Sunday was due to a decreased amount of PCR tests conducted Saturday. 

The source told Roya that the reason for the decrease in the number of PCR tests is due to both the total lockdown, which stopped individuals from getting PCR tests, and lack of test results made available Sunday.

Private laboratories and fixed PCR stations ceased the majority of their operations during lockdown. 

The source emphasized that the long-term total lockdown helps reduce the burden on health personnel. However, it also reduces the number of PCR tests conducted, meaning that figures after a lockdown are not necessarily reflective of the actual coronavirus situation in the country.
