The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced Friday that it found a connection between racketeers and drug dealers.

Local racketeers usually practice protection rackets, which is a form of extortion offering to protect property from damage in exchange for a fee. The damage is often caused partially or completely by the racketeers themselves.

Local authorities found proof that these groups have been involved with narotic substances and drug deals.

The Anti-Narcotics Department took part in investigations for 61 drug-related cases and have arrested 120 individuals.

The PSD called on citizens to report any information they have regarding drug dealers by sending a whatsapp message to (0790196196), which will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.

The Director of Public Security Hussein Hawatmeh said the security campaign launched Saturday has already enabled the PSD to arrest 599 wanted persons and suspects, few of which have managed to escape but ongoing efforts are underway to track them down.

He said the PSD has decided to strengthen and expand its efforts in tackling drug-related activities, following recently discovered information.
