A total of 401 accidents were reported, 298 of which occurred in the capital, in addition one death and 19 injuries were reported in Amman, while other governorates recorded 103 accidents and two injuries, according to the Central Traffic Department at the Public Security Directorate.

The Traffic Department dealt with 1,589 violations over the past 24 hours, announced the representative of the Traffic Department, Abdel-Majid Zaidan, on Amen FM, on Monday.

The violations included:

• 329 traffic light violations
• 15 reckless driving violations
• 62 number plate tampering violations
• Three unlicensed driver violations
• 872 violations for using mobile phones

In addition, one vehicle has been seized on the 100 Road for exceeding 170km/hr. A truck has been also seized due to illegally carrying 10 people in the truck in the Adasiyah area.

The Traffic Department calls on all citizens to abide by all traffic rules and avoid dangerous violations to ensure safety of all road users.
