It is important to incorporate online learning in schools to become part of the sustainable Jordanian education system, said King Abdullah II on Sunday.

The king stressed the need to continue developing the online education platform and to take students, teachers and parents’ feedback into consideration.

The government is working on providing the necessary infrastructure to school children in various regions of the country, to grant them access to distant learning.

During the meeting, the Minister of Education, Tayseer Al-Nuaimi, presented a plan to develop an updated version of the Darsak online platform for e-learning.

Updates include improvements on an educational content level and technological level — making it a more interactive experience by enabling voice calls and messages for better communication between teachers and students.

The ministry is working on reaching the 16% of students who currently cannot benefit from this platform, by covering the cost of computers and distributing their support fairly among students.

First semester lessons have already been filmed and include animated drawings with the help of teachers from different schools.

Approximately 6,200 videos have been finalized by more than 123 teachers.
