77 new COVID-19 cases in Jordan, 63 local cases
77 new COVID-19 cases in Jordan, 63 local cases

A total of 77 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Jordan on Tuesday, 63 of which are local cases, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 1,716.

The cases involve:

• 57 cases in Amman — 54 of which came into contact with other positive cases and three cases are being investigated to find the source.

• Five cases in Zarqa — they came into contact with other positive cases.

• One case in Ma'an — they came into contact with another positive case.

• 14 people from abroad who are currently staying in hotel quarantine — five who had travelled from the U.S., four from Saudi Arabia, two from Bahrain, two from the United Arab Emirates and one from Iraq.

A total of nine recovery cases have been confirmed — four were discharged from Prince Hamzah Hospital and five from isolation areas in the Dead Sea.

A total of 10,569 PCR tests were conducted on Tuesday, bringing the total number of tests since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 763,137.

A total of 7,361 PCR tests were conducted in the Sahab Industrial Estate. 

The Ministry of Health reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, avoid gatherings for more than 20 people, wear facemasks, social distance, and use Aman and Sehtak mobile applications.
