Citizens must adhere to COVID-19 containment measures and not fall victim to the idea that the virus does not exist, said Irbid's Head of the Epidemiology Committee, Ali al-Zetawi, on Saturday.

He called on people in Irbid to denounce the idea that COVID-19 is a myth and start adhering to health and safety measures, including wearing masks and social distancing.

Although the city has recorded a number of local infection cases in the past few days, the COVID-19 situation in Irbid is under control because all infection sources are known, said al-Zetawi.

Around 850 swabs were taken from anyone who came into contact with the recent COVID-19 cases in Irbid.

In addition, more than 800 swabs were taken from different areas in Irbid after cases have been recorded at Jaber Border Crossing, he added.
