Jordan may enter the increased moderate-risk stage on Saturday if 10 or more new local COVID-19 cases are recorded.

This comes after Jordan recorded more than 10 local cases for six days in a row.

Details on the COVID-19 local cases for the past six days are:

  • Sunday: 39 cases, including 31 local
  • Monday: 20 cases, including 16 local
  • Tuesday: 40 cases, including 30 local
  • Wednesday: 44 cases, including 43 local
  • Thursday: 16 cases, including 14 local
  • Friday: 43 cases, including 25 local

A total of 159 COVID-19 local cases have been recorded in Jordan since Sunday.

Entering the increased moderate-risk stage will occur if the country records 10 or more COVID-19 local cases for seven consecutive days.

New measures will be implemented if Jordan enters the next stage, which include; a total lockdown on Fridays at a city or district level, extending curfew hours and temporarily closing schools, mosques, churches, parks and gathering places, said the Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh.

At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the government created a national COVID-19 risk chart consisting of five levels. The levels include: the green ‘low-risk’ stage, the blue ‘moderate-risk’ stage, the yellow ‘increased moderate-risk’ stage, the orange ‘high-risk’ stage and the red ‘critical’ stage.
