First Lieutenant, Ali Muhammad Abdul Ja'arat, has died while carrying out his official duties, supervising patients in a private hospital in Amman, announced the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Thursday.

Ja'arat lost consciousness after being assaulted by a patient’s family members and passed away soon after.

The body was transferred to the forensic medicine department and the biopsy declared an enlarged heart muscle as the cause of death.

The three individuals who attacked Ja'arat were arrested and investigations are underway.
