Jordan confirms 40 new COVID-19 cases, 30 local

Forty new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Jordan on Tuesday, including 30 local cases, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 1,438.

The local cases involve:

• Twenty-four cases in Amman— all of which came in contact with other positive cases.

• Three cases in Ramtha— all of which came in contact with other positive cases.

• Two cases in Zarqa— all of which came in contact with other positive cases.

• One case for an Egyptian worker who works at al-Omari Border Crossing. 

Seven cases involve people from abroad who are currently staying in hotel quarantine — five travelled from Saudi Arabia, one from Qatar, and one from Ukraine.

Three cases involve Jordanian truck drivers who have entered from Saudi Arabia via Al-Omari border crossing.

Two recovery cases were recorded on Tuesday.

A total of 6,989 random tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the beginning of the crisis to 705,920.

The Ministry of Health reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, avoid gatherings for more than 20 people, wear facemasks, social distance, and use Aman and Sehtak mobile applications.
