Twenty new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Jordan on Monday, including 16 local cases, bringing the total number of cases since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis to 1,398.

The local cases involve:

• Four cases in Irbid— all of which came in contact with other positive cases.

• Nine cases in Amman

• One case Zarqa

• Two cases in Balqa

Two cases involve people from abroad who are currently staying in hotel quarantine — one who travelled from Saudi Arabia and one from the United States.

Two cases involve Jordanian truck drivers who have entered from Saudi Arabia via Al-Omari border crossing.

The total number of cases since Friday has reached 122.

All sources of the positive cases recorded on Monday have been identified, said Minister of Health, Saad Jaber.

Five recovery cases were confirmed on Sunday — all of which were discharged from quarantine in the Dead Sea isolation area.

A woman, who tested positive for coronavirus in Ramtha, was confirmed as the source the source of infection for the group of employees at the factory in Sahab, according to Jaber.

Curfew hours start at midnight until 6am and the commercial sector can operate until 11pm.

However, curfew hours in Ramtha have been extended to start at 8pm until 6am.

Based on Defence Order No. 11, business owners and citizens must adhere to the utmost level of caution and penalties will be imposed on facilities in which workers or customers do not wear facemasks or neglect health and safety measures.

The Ministry of Health reiterated the need to adhere to preventive measures, avoid gatherings for more than 20 people, wear facemasks, social distance, and use Aman and Sehtak mobile applications.
