Seven security force members were injured during teacher protests in Karak, on Tuesday evening.

The protest in the Marj area was to demand the authorities release the arrested members of the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA).

A government source told Roya the protesters threw stones, injuring some members of the security forces. They also said the gathering was a violation of COVID-19 precautionary measures.

The source said security forces were forced to use tear gas to disperse non-peaceful crowds as they attempted to block the roads and disrupt public utilities.

Protest action has taken place throughout the Kingdom since last week, following the suspension of the Jordan Teachers’ Syndicate and the arrests of a number of its leading members on July 25.
